Papers, 1836-1887.

This collection of papers consists mostly of correspondence, for the period 1836 to 1853, to Harrington from prominent individuals of the period. Several of the correspondents are fellow Unitarian clergymen and their letters discuss church-related matters. The papers also include a military pass, 1861; a typed copy of a letter, 1885, to the editor of _The Critic_ discussing the character of Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849); and a biographical sketch, 1887, of Harrington taken from a periodical. The collection also includes two notes, 1861, to Harrington's brother, George Harrington (1816-1892), Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, from his immediate superior and the Secretary of War.
